Hello, everyone, and welcome to another of my reviews. In this article, I’ll review the bamboo sheets from the local bedding label Bedtribe.

As mentioned in my previous articles, I just moved into a new apartment. Sleep is incredibly important to me, so I was searching for nice sheets from a local company. I chanced upon Bedtribe from a sponsored background segment of Overkill’s YouTube video, and decided to try the brand out. Let’s see if it’s any good.

Bedtribe Iced Bamboo Sheets – Review

Bedtribe’s hero product is its Iced Bamboo sheets – in fact, it’s the only material available.

Bedtribe sells its sheets either as separates or as a set, which the brand says offers savings of up to 30% compared to separates. I opted for the complete set, which comes with a fitted sheet, a duvet cover, two pillowcases, and two bolster cases.

The complete set came nicely packed in a luxurious sheet bag that was premium to the touch. Given the number of sheets in the set, I was surprised that they fitted compactly within a relatively svelte package.

Of course, the unique selling point of the sheets is that they are made from bamboo, which Bedtribe says has a softness “equivalent to 1000 thread count cotton sheets in the market.” The bamboo sheets are also touted as naturally cooling, with the brand stating that bamboo is naturally three degrees lower in temperature than other fabrics such as cotton or linen. I agree – the sheets are noticeably cooler and more breathable than standard cotton sheets, which is a great boon in Singapore’s humid weather. Furthermore, bamboo is naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial, resulting in odour-resistant sheets.

Bedtribe’s iced bamboo sheets have a noticeably silky feel, reminiscent of the smooth texture of Tencel sheets. They’re incredibly comfortable to sleep in and a noticeable upgrade over my previous prosaic cotton sheets. Unlike Tencel sheets, however, bamboo sheets are not susceptible to mildew, which loves to grow in high-humidity environments such as Singapore’s tropical climate.

The coolness and comfort extend to the pillowcases, which ensure a luxurious sleeping experience for the head. I should also mention that Bedtribe claims its bamboo sheets are more durable than regular cotton sheets due to their longer fibres and are also relatively low-maintenance as they are machine washable and supposedly do not shrink. I’ve not used the sheets long enough to back this up, but I have not noticed any shrinkage or tears in my 1-2 months of usage thus far.

As the icing on its iced bamboo sheets, Bedtribe also has a collaboration with local Peranakan design house Onlewo. The design features what Onlewo describes as “happy, vintage colours that kindle slumbering smiles”. It is a cool (pun intended) differentiating factor from other brands out there that offer bamboo sheets.

If you’re big on sustainability, you’ll be happy to know that bamboo is significantly more eco-friendly than standard fabrics such as cotton. Bedtribe states that the fibre yield per acre from bamboo is up to ten times higher and requires up to 20 times less water.

Bedtribe currently offers two sets – the complete set (with a duvet cover, seen above), and the basic set (without the duvet cover). I would encourage opting for the complete set, which is only about $50 more (for Queen/King size). The primary benefit of the bamboo sheets is their soft premium texture, and it simply feels amazing to slide underneath the silky smooth duvet.

Bedtribe also includes practical tags on the edges of the fitted sheets that tell you whether they’re on the long or short side. This makes fitting the bedsheets—usually a chore—much easier.

Conclusion – so the Bedtribe Iced Bamboo Sheets “shiok” or not?

Definitely so. The iced bamboo sheets from Bedtribe are the best sheets I’ve slept on, and they feel even more comfortable than sheets from my 5-star hotel stays. The sheets are incredibly smooth and cool to the skin, and I love sliding underneath the bamboo duvet cover after a long night. And although I’ve only slept on them for about two months, I’m heartened they are billed to be more durable (and sustainable) than traditional cotton bedsheets. I also like the collaboration with Onlewo, who happened to be one of my favourite local design houses. Lastly, Bedtribe offers its iced bamboo sheets in 14 different colours, which is great if you’re worried about white sheets getting stained easily.

Those interested in purchasing the Iced Bamboo Sheets can use the promo code “WAHSOSHIOK” to enjoy 10% off Bedtribe’s entire webstore. After the discount, the complete set of Iced Bamboo Sheets would cost just $134 for Single/Super Single sizes and $179 for Queen/King sizes. That’s pretty affordable – especially considering that the bedsheets are something you’ll spend at least 6 hours on every night.
