Hello everyone, and welcome to another of my reviews. In this article, I’ll review the Orthopedic Supreme Zero-Motion Mattress from Zinus.

As mentioned in my previous review, I have since moved into my own apartment and was thus looking for a new mattress. Unfortunately, I had a limited budget for furniture and appliances – I catered only $500 for a mattress and two pillows. Despite my restrictive budget, I knew I wanted a full-foam mattress (which is typically more expensive than spring mattresses).

After much searching online, I finally managed to find one—the Zinus Orthopedic Supreme Zero-Motion Mattress. Zinus is quite a reputable (though admittedly not premium) brand. It holds the distinction of being the Number one mattress brand on Amazon and has sold millions of mattresses worldwide. They also have a Singaporean showroom in Hudson Technocentre, and their mattresses are retailed at Giant and BHG.

Despite its affordable price tag, the Orthopedic Supreme Zero-Motion Mattress is 10 inches thick (25cm), which gives it a premium hotel-like look.

The thickness can also be attributed to the mattress’s multiple layers, which is again impressive given its low price point. Firstly, the Zinus Comfort Foam provides an immediate cushioned response. Secondly, the green tea-infused memory foam not only relieves pressure but is also naturally antibacterial to ward off odour and bacteria. There’s also a thin layer of latex foam – typically seen in premium mattresses – which Zinus says is hypoallergenic (thus making it suitable for those with sensitive skin like me).

The multi-layered mattress translated to an incredibly soft sleeping experience – it feels like sleeping on clouds.

As the icing (pun intended) on the cake, the mattress also features a Tencel fibre fabric cover, which is soft, highly absorbent, and, most importantly, cooling to the touch.

As I’m primarily a side sleeper, I was looking for a mattress with a cushioned top that would relieve the pressure on my shoulders and hips. This Zinus mattress certainly achieved that due to the combination of the Tencel fabric cover and the top layer of Zinus’ ComfortFoam.

The mattress also features zero-motion technology, which allows you to get into/out of bed without disturbing your partner. As I (mostly) sleep alone, I can’t really attest to the efficacy of this feature. Nevertheless, it’s commendable that Zinus would include zero-motion technology (typically seen in pricier offerings) in its affordable mattresses.

I also got two pillows from Zinus – the Cool Green Tea Memory Foam Contour Pillow (bottom in the above photo), and the ‘Cool Series’ Green Tea Memory Foam Traditional Pillow (top in the above photo). Like the mattress, both pillows use green tea memory foam to deter the growth of bacteria and fungi. That’s supremely important, especially considering that the average pillowcase contains over 170,000% the number of bacteria as a toilet seat even after a week of washing.

If you’re deciding between the two pillows, the contour pillow is firmer and provides more support, while the traditional pillow is soft and plush.

Conclusion – so Zinus Orthopedic Supreme Zero-Motion Mattress “shiok” or not?

Make no mistake—the chief selling point of the Orthopedic Supreme Zero-Motion Mattress is its affordability—it starts at just $249 for a Single and goes up to only $499 for a King size. Yet, despite its low price point, the mattress is packed with features and competes evenly with mattresses twice, sometimes thrice its price. It also comes with a ten-year warranty, thus providing (literally and figuratively) ease of mind.

Those interested in purchasing the Zinus Orthopedic Supreme Zero-Motion Mattress (or the pillows) can use the promo code “WAHSOSHIOK” to enjoy 10% off (valid till the end of 2024). After the discount, my particular set-up (a Queen-size mattress with two pillows) costs just $456—way within my budget. In an age where inflation is hitting hard (renovation prices are through the roof), it’s heartening to see a brand like Zinus commit to offering bang-for-buck products.
