Hello everyone, and welcome to another of my reviews. In this article, I review the new Joobie from the local furniture brand ErgoTune.

I previously reviewed the ErgoTune Supreme V3 here, as well as its predecessor here. While the Supreme V3 is targeted at workaholics, the new Joobie is billed as the perfect ergonomic chair for the everyday user. Let’s see if it’s any good.

ErgoTune Joobie – Review

The new Joobie shares multiple features with the slightly pricier Supreme V3.

Like the Supreme V3, the Joobie boasts ErgoTune’s TriTune™ 3D Support Headrest, albeit with a refreshed logo design. The headrest supports four axes of adjustment, allowing you to alter the height and tilt of the headrest to your preference.

The Joobie is also made from ErgoTune’s DuraWeave™, which is the brand’s proprietary hybrid mesh of fabric and polyester that is purportedly more durable than traditional mesh material. Compared to the faux leather used on most gaming chairs (and even some ergonomic chairs), DuraWeave™ is eminently more breathable – especially in Singapore’s hot and humid climate – and won’t peel. I’ve been using the ErgoTune Supreme (V3 and V2) for almost four years now, and the mesh has held up well without any tears or discolouration.

Furthermore, there are several upgrades over the Supreme V3. Firstly, the armrests can now rotate the full 360 degrees, instead of 270 degrees. This allows you to find the ideal armrest position, regardless of the activity.

The new Joobie also has 15 adjustment points, 4 more than the Supreme V3. The additional adjustments include being able to tweak the lumbar tension and height independently from the backrest, as well as a new Vertesync Recline function – a feature that ErgoTune says “introduces an extended range of motion meticulously designed to enhance your comfort while in a reclined position”. Essentially, the feature allows the Joobie to cater to more relaxed activities such as watching Netflix whilst eating some chips.

To further cater to these Netflix and chips people, the Joobie offers the option for a footpad (for an additional $50). This allows you to kick your legs back, relax, and binge-watch the latest season of Selling Sunset (or Queen of Tears, if Kdramas are more up your alley) in maximum comfort. However, the footpad looks to be made from faux leather, so there’s the concern of the leather peeling over time.

The star base is also no longer metal (as with the Supreme V3). While I suppose it’s technically less durable than the Supreme V3 – perhaps more prone to scratches or nicks – I don’t believe it makes much of a difference in everyday usage.

I also want to highlight ErgoTune’s nifty manuals, which come with the chair. The manuals make it easy for first-time ergonomic chair owners to find their ideal ergonomic position, with detailed instructions on how to do so. If you’re transitioning from a gaming chair, these manuals are very handy to help you find the best position for your posture. Kudos to ErgoTune for taking the additional time and effort to craft these guides – not every ergonomic chair comes with such manuals.

Conclusion – so the ErgoTune Joobie “shiok” or not?

The new ErgoTune Joobie is the perfect home office ergonomic chair. With 15 different adjustment points, a 360-degree armrest, an independently adjustable lumbar support system, and a (optional) footrest, the Joobie caters to a wider array of activities as compared to its more astute brother, the Supreme V3. I’ll put it this way – the Supreme V3 is great for the office, but the Joobie is better at home. If you currently have a Supreme V3 at home, I don’t think there’s a need to upgrade to the Joobie due to the many similarities.

For those interested in purchasing the ErgoTune Joobie, you can use the promo code “WAHSOSHIOK” to enjoy $20 off. The promo code is combinable with existing promotions, so the Joobie would cost just $479 currently – making it even cheaper than the older Supreme V3. The older Supreme V3 is also currently only available in Charcoal colour, so those looking for more vibrant colourways (such as this Dew Green Joobie) should opt for the new Joobie. Like the Supreme V3, the Joobie also comes with 6 years of warranty and free shipping. And if you decide it’s not for you, ErgoTune also offers hassle-free returns with free doorstep pickup. Those searching for a versatile, all-rounded ergonomic chair at the sub-$500 price point will be hard-pressed to find a better option than the ErgoTune Joobie.
