Hello everyone, and welcome back to another Singaporean article! On this shiok Sunday, I’m reviewing the new Hikaru scents from local perfume label Scent by Six, as well as their new Mini Nebulizer.
I’ve reviewed Scent by Six before – those interested can check out my review of their 2065 Ujong and 27°F Biei here. I also chronicled my experience of attending a Zoom perfume workshop with Scent by Six here.
Alright, let’s take a look at some of their new scents!
Update: I’m pleased to list a curation of Scent by SIX perfumes on my new web-store, The Shiok Shop.

Scent by Six – Hikaru Perfume
The brand’s latest creation is their Hikaru line of fragrances.
As the name suggests, the new Hikaru perfume is a Japanese-inspired fragrance that possesses a ton of fresh and citrusy notes. According to the brand, the top notes for the Hikaru includes Shikoku Yuzu, Petitgrain, Lemon Peel, and Bamboo Green. Out of these, I would say that the Yuzu and Lemon scents are the most prominent. When you first apply the Hiakru perfume, the first notes you get are definitely fruity.
After the top notes dissipates, the middle notes of the Hikaru perfume reveal themselves. The brand states the middle notes as comprising of Sakura Tea, Dandelion, and Neroli Essence. The middle notes are intended to relax, to calm – therefore the presence of soothing flowery scents.
Finally, the middle notes dissolves into earthy scents that reminds one of trekking through a forest in the morning. Scent by Six states the bottom notes as White Musk, Sandalwood and Ambergris. All in all, I really like the new Hikaru perfume. There’s a fruity freshness to the perfume that perks me up immediately, especially when applied in the morning. There’s a distinct oriental characteristic to the scent too, one that reminds me of Japanese tea and its inherent calming effects. If you’re feeling frazzled in the morning, this is the perfume to turn to.
I should also highlight that all of Scent by Six’s perfumes are refillable. While the bottle (with 20ml of perfume) costs $66, once you run out you can simply re-order the refill (shown above) for a mere $45. If you’re not a fan of the Hikaru scent, you can simply order another one of their scents to try out. Not only does this make purchasing their perfumes more economical, it is more environmentally friendly too.
Scent by Six – Hikaru Pillow Mist
The brand also sent me their Hikaru Pillow Mist – using it was nothing short of a revelation.
The notes of the pillow mist is identical to that of the abovementioned perfume, so I won’t repeat myself here. Nevertheless, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the Hikaru in its pillow mist form. Prior to this, I have never used a pillow mist before, and now I know what I was missing out on. I’m not an easy sleeper – I usually lie in bed with a million thoughts running through my head, tossing fitfully, unable to sleep. After applying the Hikaru pillow mist, I found inhaling the scent to have a calming effect, as if I was being sung a lullaby as a child. It has genuinely resulted in me sleeping better and easier, and it is now part of my nightly ritual. I absolutely loved using the Hikaru pillow mist, and given that it’s currently sold out on Scent by Six’s website, I’m clearly not the only one. (I hope they restock soon though, as my bottle is already almost finished.)
Scent by Six – Mini Nebulizer
Last but not least, Scent by Six also sent me their Mini Nebulizer.
The Mini Nebulizer is basically an electronically powered scent diffuser. Perfect for cars or workstations, the Mini Nebulizer has a maximum coverage area of 60m², and a 80-hour maximum operating duration per vial.
Like most Scent by Six products, the Mini Nebulizer is refillable. At present, the choices include: Hikaru, 27°F Biei, 2065 Ujong, Citronella, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Peppermint, and Pure Yuzu. The Mini Nebulizer was sent to me with the Pure Yuzu included, which I actually quite liked. It had a refreshing fruity aroma, and actually did revitalize me whilst I was doing my work. I genuinely do think that I was a tad more productive with the Mini Nebulizer on my workstation.
In case you’re wondering, the Mini Nebulizer is rechargeable, with a USB charging cable included.
Unlike the traditional scent diffusers (those sticks in a bottle type), the electronic nature of the Mini Nebulizer allows you to not only decide when to switch it on, but also to adjust its intensity. This results in less wastage and actually allows you to get more bang for your buck. For those looking to cover a larger area, Scent by Six also offers a larger Desktop Nebulizer that covers your entire bedroom, living room, etc.
Conclusion – so Scent by Six “shiok” or not?
I really enjoyed all three items that Scent by Six sent me this time around. The Hikaru perfume is a great perk-me-up scent to apply in the morning, before heading out to school or work. However, my personal favourites would actually be the Hikaru pillow mist and the Mini Nebulizer. Usually, when I do reviews, I test-drive the items for a short period of time, write the review, and move on to the next product. With the Hikaru pillow mist and the Mini Nebulizer, I can genuinely foresee myself integrating these items into my daily life. I absolutely love applying the Hikaru pillow mist before I head to bed, as well as switching on the Mini Nebulizer on my workstation whenever I feel the need to be extra productive. In other words, these products are now a part of my lifestyle, which I think is the greatest compliment I can give. I would love to see them make a Hikaru facial mist – that is a product I’ll certainly buy.
